Before a month or so ago, I had never seen any of my snails lay eggs or any evidence that indicated they had (i.e. eggs). Within the past month my nassarius snail has been laying eggs - three batches now(one batch, three separate times)! I have three nassarius but only one of them is doing this. I read that it could be an excess of nutrients or something... but these are nassarius snails - carnivores - and I haven't had any of my fish, snails, shrimp, etc die...
The first time it happened was when I got back from a trip and found out my tank babysitters had been overfeeding (maybe that contributed). However, the over feeding has stopped since then and the tank has had 2 good water changes and cleanings.
Anyone have any idea what is making my nassarius do this?
... I'm not really wanting a tank full of nassarius snails dying off because there isn't enough for them to eat (or me overfeeding to support them later). [emoji20]
