mayne i am overthink this here. But i cannot figure out if i want this thing on the left or right....or in the center.

Does it matter? are there things im am not thinking about that helps with the sump itself being located in different spots?
Its a 75gal and the sump is a rs-200

Probably not the center, an ato or something may need space in the stand so better to leave as large a footprint available for later additions. Maybe place it just far enough from the near side that you have a little room in case you ever need to mount equipment on that side, like a magnet sensor holder or something.

Is it easier to access filter socks, equipment with it on one side or the other? How about cord management, easier to reach power from one side or other?
Plumbing more of a straight shot?

Just some ideas to think about before you decide.

Happy reefing.

You know What would make me the happiest and then I would care about the placement of the thing is if the center piece of wood was gone. Is it a main support? Is it needed in this style of stand? Is there a way I could reinforce elsewhere and remove that?

I push my sumps all the way to one side so:
I have one area that is free I can place things like ATO reservoir, CArx, dosing containers...etc
You will need space uner the tank and having the sump center will kill the space...

I'd start a new thread to attract the carpentry, engineer guys. Take some pics at a couple different angles of the stand, include what type of material the stand is and let them give you their opinion. Like my 54g rimless has no center support, but my 55g particle board stand did. I'm not confident enough on that stuff to alter how it's made, let alone advise someone else, lol.

Hello,

As mentioned usually good to leave as much room as possible.

Think about plumbing it in. That said you may want to try to get it right below the drain. It will help drain better without having any length of a horizontal run in the drain pipe. Plus less pipes running all over.

I did start a new thread on it. I ended up taking it out and reinforcing the front with 1x4 boards. It held me jumping on it and im 230lbs.

Yip the drains will have 45degree bends in them but should work out good.

I'd place it where you have a direct straight drop with your drain line into the sump.

Yeah i should of drilled it different then because there is this verticle rear support that is directly below the overflow. I have to plumb around that if i where to put it in the middle.

A 45 degree bend didnt hurt anything on the 40gal. Should get me right what i need hopefully anyway
