Wondering about your guys opinion on this trim. 1) is it helping at all since it's not one solid piece all the way around, it's 4 separate pieces. And 2) with that huge cross member do you think it would be safe to remove the trim? Thanks.

If the trim is not solid it does not help. Imo since the glass is probably not rated the right thickness for rimless. I would try euro bracing the tank. The cross brace you have might help depending on how it is attached.

I would not remove it. And that glass centerbrace, while ugly and huge, is very important.

I had the impression the trim was not attached looking at the picture. If it still is then like melev says leave it on. He definately has more exp. than I on tank structural integrity.

I had an old 55 gallon tank that had similar traits. I left the trim on and removed the huge glass center brace. It was just silicones in place. I never had any issues with it being out.

Thanks for all the replies. The center brace was for sure staying. I was just curious about the ugly trim.
