I just cycled a 125 long with some live rock I got from other reefers. I'm not sure what kind of pest I brought home with the live rock but I didn't do a muriatic acid bath on the rock nor did I cure it. Smh.

Should I use some meds to get rid of the pests? Is this even possible?

Maybe I should treat my DT as a QT for a few weeks? I have nothing in there except rock and sand and water.

Thanks !

What kind of pests? Are you sure they are pests? Might be something good.

If you decide to "treat" your rock, you'd be starting over. I wouldn't do it.

To be honest, I have no idea. I'm too new in the hobby to know what is good or bad haha. I can't see any right now, but I saw an aipitasia anemone pop up recently. I'm sure that's a pest lol.

I'm just worried in general that I brought home something bad. And if so I should I just do a general dose of meds to treat my tank for anything potentially bad.

Thanks!

You really don't want to "dose" rock with anything. It (whatever it is) gets absorbed, and then over time leaches back into your tank. If you have one, or a few, aiptasia, kill them using boiled tank water and a turkey baster. Now is the time to do that with no corals in the tank. I use a coffee mug and zap it in the microwave to heat the water.
