Question about tropic eden reef flake sand and gobys

Hi
I'm thinking about purchasing this sand for my 225 g tank. Wondering if it's ok for twin spot goby(two spot goby) goby pistol shrimps pairs(yasha or Dracula goby), blue spotted jaw fish???
Mixed reef tank
Will have 2 mp60s on either side and 2 wavs on the back wall.

I used to use Reef Flakes and had a Diamond Goby and a Randall's Goby that was paired up with Tiger pistol shrimp and had no problems.
I believe it was the regular sized Reef Flakes.

Might be the best sand on the market.

Yeah I've heard nothing but great things about this sand
Anyone have any experience with the mesoflakes or even the miniflakes?

Agreed! I have it and love it! My diamond goby seems to like it just fine too.

I mixed a 30lb bag of mesoflakes and 30lb bag of miniflakes. I really like the consistency and look of this sand! Im about at the end of my cycle, so no fish with it yet... But during nicely in the tank with my flow so far! I have some carib-sea sand in a frag/invert tank...no comparison to the beauty of the Tropic Eden sand.

Yeah I have the caribsea and was about to use that when a friend started using this stuff. I like the smaller size but I plan to have a lot of flow. I will have 2 MP60 on both sides and maybe 2 wavs in the back. It's between the mesoflakes and the reef flakes

The mesoflakes really seem like a standard sand size to me. The reef flakes a little bigger. I don't think you would be upset or have problems with either... but a mix of the 2 would probably be really nice! You will love the look and consistency of the sand. Definitely rinse before putting in your tank, though. I had to purchase the dry sand and it was still dusty... took about 15 min with the hose in a tub to get the water clear. But, i can move the sand around in my tank now and never get a cloud.

Is the Tropic Eden sand really that much better than CaribSea? Also I have only found it on Premium aquatics site. You guy's get it somewhere else?

I have both. I can try and open both bags in the next day or 2 and post some pictures comparing the 2. I had the caribesea Special grade and was happy with it. Just found everyone who had the tropic Eden loves them and it’s white from what I’ve been told.

I find it much easier to rinse. very clean sand. Set up a reefer 350 and water was clear next day

I have the Tropic Eden sand in my display tank and used CaribSea in a coral quarantine tank. I prefer the clean, whiter color of the Tropic Eden sand in the DT when comparing the 2 side by side.

Definitely rinse the heck out of any sand you get though. I rinsed the Tropic Eden sand in a tote with a water hose and strong stream for at least 15 minutes before it was clean water draining off it. Now, never a dusting in the display tank... not even when first adding water. I didn't wash the Caribsea sand in the coral tank...a mess every time I stir the sand now! Thinking of taking the sand out of the coral QT actually!

I want to know something why does some people rinse the sand when it's live sand because wouldn't that kill the stuff that is alive and I know that you have to cycle the tank but when you rinse the sand it would make the cycle take longer because then the sand has to become alive again and your rock's so I've never washed my sand because of this so am I right about this or what???

I believe they are speaking of rinsing dry sand. (not Live sand)
