Question about turbo twist UV sterllizer bulbs

A question about the Coralife Turbo Twist: the original Coralife 36 watt bulb replacement is $70, yet there are Coralife compatible bulbs sold for $11. Is it worth it to buy the original than save money for a cheaper replacement bulb?

I would just buy the aftermarket ones and change them every 4 months instead of 6. Either way it is a better deal...

Im pretty well versed in these. The "twistes" need a lot of cleaning bc they trap organics and become nitrate factories.

I like to use "submersible UVC glass fixtures" in the sump away from anything living bc the blue light kills everything it shines on....coral, fish.....but does a a great job making your DT water look crystal clear.

I use these and get 18mos to 24mos out of them b4 bulb replacement:

I agree, they are traps for organics and the sleeve tends to need cleaning fairly often.
Not sure they become nitrate factories since I have personally never seen one get that dirty.
However, all systems are different.

Please - explain for me how this can happen? Conversion to NO3 is a bacterial process - how can that happen on a substrate sending out UVC radiation?
