Question about Uni-Seals?

Is there any problem in putting a Uni-Seal in the bottom of a container?

I plan on using a 20 Brute trashcan for an RO/DI resivior
I want spigot in the bottom so I can get all the water out.

Will the Uni-Seal hold?

Yes it will hold. When you say bottom, you mean on the side at the bottom correct?

No I mean bottom, bottom.
There would be a small hole in the top on my resivior stand with a pipe and ball valve on it.
I may even have 2 ball valves to divert between the bucket and a circulation pump.

Thanks. Some others in s different forum suggested a bulkhead if it's going to be on the bottom of the can because of the water pressure.

I use a 800gph pump to circulate my water in my storage barrel for 30 seconds every half hour. So if pressure was an issue i would know about it.

If its going to be on the very bottom, I would consider using a bulkhead. I think a Uni-Seal would work, but I also think a bulkhead would be better.

General rule of thumb is if it is a flat surface then use a bulkhead, if it's curved, then use a uniseal.

I don't know if a bulkhead would work.
I want to put this on the absolute lowest point. So on the Brute trash cans there is a 1" (or so) trench at the bottom of the can that the can actually sits on.
It's not perfectly flat so that's why I was looking at a uni-seal.

Either way you go you prob will not get all of the water out but you will prob get Just about all of it out using a bulkhead (with the nut side on the outside of the can). With the Uniseal you'll have a small lip when you push the pipe in there. You could use the Uniseal and push the pipe way in there and drill small holes at the lowest point.

I use uniseals anywhere I can and theyre great. Just so hard to find.

mnnn... I would beg to differ here. I know uniseals are great. however, they work on friction therefor over time on a spot where you might be moving a directional head. I wouldn't do it. All rubber shrinks and cracks over time. my tanks been up 16 years and survived two moves and I have it closed looped on the bottom with 3/4" bulkheads. personally its the only way I would go as bulkhears don't rely on friction to hold water. just my .O2
