Question about used BRS reactor.

I got this off a guy in the area for cheap. All it has is the hoses and the outside containers and not the cartridges. I want it for carbon and not GFO as I don't want to run that. I was wondering if I could use one side for carbon and the other for calcium? If not I will just use both sides for carbon.
