So a few months ago my tank was wiped out by VELVET and I know it’s 76 for ICH and 30 days fallow for VELVET but to be safe I ran the tank fallow for a full 76 days!!!

Now my question is do I have to change all my media ( biofoam - biorock ) ?

Can Velvet or Ich live in Media being nitrifying bacteria is a living organism?

Is there anything I have to do in general to my tank or filtration beside running fallow?

Thank you

Going fallow works because you are denying the parasite a fish host to feed upon, essentially starving it to death. It just takes a certain amount of time - 6 weeks for velvet, 76 days for ich - to ensure the parasite has reached the free swimming stage of it's life cycle. These free swimmers must find a fish to infect or they die, thus breaking the life cycle.

There's nothing else you need to do except go fallow. :)

Agree. It’s 60 days for velvet some say, for least risk but I’d always go 76 to rid all parasites and clean slate it!
