I have some nice rock that I am drilling holes in for zoa plugs.
I have seen pictures of one rock with two different zoa colonies on it. Do they ever compete for the middle? Is making a zoa colony with 2 separate frags just a slow way of killing one colony off?

I think they look cool, but only if I can keep both variants going.

I don't think zoa's hurt each other as I have seen many mixed tank with zoas all over.

Most of the times they can coexist but sometimes one colony might grow over the other one. It takes a long time for that to happen though

Thanks. Looks like if I put them on opposite sides of the rock, they will get enough numbers to make it.
Now, opinions on mixing? I have:
Dragon Eyes
Armor of the Gods
Xmen
Eagle Eye

I'm thinking the Armor and Xmen might look cool contrasting. The armors are so much bigger, and the Eagle Eye are a bit bland compared to the others.

IMO I think it's best to keep smaller polyps with other smaller polyps. If you try and mix a small polyp with a larger, the larger ones usually outcompete the smaller. The result will be a bunch of the larger polyp variant with small clusters of the smaller variant. GL [emoji16]

I actually meant to type Dragon Eyes instead of Armor of the Gods. I think I did read that the larger ones like AoG would crowd out others.
