Good day! I'm redoing flooring in my house, so I have to take my tanks down. I've set up two live stock bins for temporary holding in my garage. Any advice on controlling ATO? I feel like if I just use my normal ATO it will be swinging salinity a lot, as it's a huge surface area.

Open to advice / opinions. My current ATO is with my AutoAqua AWC.

For something temporary like that I wouldnt use an ato. Mark the water level with a piece of tape and once a day top it off to make sure it is at that level

I did also consider that, but as temporary as it sounds, they will probably be holding tanks for 1-2 months while the house is renovated, then an additional month for the original tanks to recycle with new rock. I'd rather have some automated system in place, so I don't have to keep track of topping off and/or worry if I'm out of town etc.

OK I would still manually top off (I do it in my 2 smaller tanks) but let's see. I'm trying to think of a way you can simulate a sump return section and put the ato in there...

Maybe put an open container just under the water level and put the ato in it/above it. The tank will evaporate a little bit exposing the top of the container and now that the containers water is now separate from the rest of the water it'll evaporate faster (being in a smaller container) and engage the ato. Just a thought. Does that make sense?

Or just plumb a sump container to the set up
