Question: Did your DD fish come with a disease infection?

I voted I don't know; because I ordered a pair fancy gumdrop coral crouchers. Put them both in QT, the female refused to eat and possibly had an internal parasite and perished. The male ate and lived and happily lives in the display. So if your question is whether or not to QT despite the fish coming from DD, the answer is yes.

They don't treat them there unless there is an overt issue. If the fish is eating and looks good, that is all they do. People seem to have a false sense of security that the fish has been up there for months treated and ready for your tank. It hasn't. A week, maybe 2.

QT your fish from DD just like you would any other. Doing anything else is asking for trouble.

what? why would they treat a fish that isn't sick? that doesn't make any sense.

that is the purpose of qt - to observe, and treat if needed.

every fish i've ever purchased from dd has been flawless.

Just added an Achilles Tang from them yesterday. So far so good! :)

I've bought several fish from them. Most were great but I did get one fish with ich and one with brook.

I got a midas blenny and solar wrasse from them. I put them in QT and they were eating the same day. I watched them for about 2 weeks and decided to move them to the DT. They are still doing great.

I just received my first fish order from them. I bought a pair, one just under 2" and one just over 2". Obviously I don't have the answer to your question but I can tell you their shipping/packing is second to none. Each fish was bagged separately with no less than 6 bags and completely blacked out. They were also in close to 1.5g each(guessing of course). The box came in at 30lbs!

I think I've ordered 6-7 times from DD, I just drop them in the tank no QT. Haven't had any parasites pop up yet.

i've had great luck with fish from dd and have ordered quite a bit from dd specifically for the amount of time they spend with sensitive species and the work kevin does to ensure the very best chances on some of the more rare and hard to keep species both in his personal tanks and those of dd. i have not had a fish arrive with ailment requiring my attention. i always qt and treat all fish nonetheless. i have helped folks treat fish they received from dd that did end up with ich after acclimation. i dont know if they were shipped that way or if cross-contamination via mishandling their qt/treatment protocol introduced it, though.

according to their website, your comments are not true - they do prophylactically treat their DD fish.

Fish, such as clownfish, prone to common parasitic ailments like Brooklynella hostilis, are given repeated freshwater baths that contain anti-parasite medication. Clownfish are quarantined for a minimum of four weeks at our facility before we offer them for sale. Other fish such as Angelfish, tangs, certain genus of wrasse, and several other specific species are given therapeutic saltwater baths. These baths contain praziquantel or other medications that eliminate flukes, protozoan, and parasites commonly found on wild fish. To combat common bacterial infections such as Vibrio, therapeutic baths containing antibiotics such as kanamycin, nitrofurazone, Neomycin and other commercial antibiotics are given. Open wounds on fish are treated and healed with a special topical treatment. In addition to the baths, all quarantined fish are treated with copper sulfate and a 37% formaldehyde solution to combat Amyloodinium ocellatum and Cryptocaryon irritans.

Once they start feeding, all new fish that enter our facility, and can be successfully weaned onto prepared foods, are de-wormed, via frozen food soaked in praziquantel, metronidazole, and piperazine. After the de-worming process, we offer a variety of vitamin-enriched foods to all of the fish."

this could go up for debate and has ad nauseam. if you're not familiar with the advantages of prophylactic treatment, there are many articles and some quality threads still out there for reference. if you have no luck, shoot me a PM and i'll be glad to help as well. there is also differences between qt'ing a fish and treating a fish or having a qt tank which is also a "hospital tank".

Now are you talking Diver's Den or all liveaquaria? Because they probably don't treat the fish differently from those two sections unless maybe the fish is expensive and rare, then they probably take more precautions.

Personally I've purchased a lot of fish, corals and inverts from liveaquaria and like them best mainly because wide selection, availability, and good customer service. And the health of the livestock is fairly good but a couple of times the box got lost in overnight shipping and arrived DOA but they credited my account without a fuss. I only bought from DD once and it was a RBTA. It lasted longer than all my anemone attempts, about 3.5 months (don't ask).

There is even more reason to qt a fish from DD. Even more so than a lfs fish. He fish from DD will have been shipped to you. No matter how healthy it was at their facility it will have become stressed or sick in transport.

I bought a dozen assorted small fish 3 years ago did not QT and 11 are still alive after close to 3 years. that said I have since learned never put anything into my DT until they have been thru a full QT usually 8 weeks. Sick animal plus large display = real trouble.

Fish can easily show up with something during shipping that they didn't show before.
