Question of AF zeomix

Hi Ed,
Yes, it works well this way, just a vertex zeolite reactor, for this application is perfect. The Phosphate Minus has a simple sponge, like the one included in the 2LF reactors, this separates the AF Carbon and the AF Phosphate Minus, tune the reactor so the AF Phosphate Minus tumbles :)

I was just giving you a hard time. The rest of us have to deal with removing the darn reactor to change media. :)

LOL Ed,
Think I may be trimming some corals soon, I will let you know, need a few bucks for MACNA, going to be fun! I finally got a set of frag tools, so no more of my girlfriends old scissors, lol... Let me know if you are in the area, still want to do a BBQ with you and Charles, and whoever else, but waiting for it to cool off a bit, this summer has been brutal! Maybe early October, always a good time of year to hang outside. Anyway, chat with you soon :)

Thanks so much @Perry abd all others for sharing so much information .
Got most of my doubts cleared and now will wait for the tank to be setup .
Decided to go with a MRC reactor for the zeomix, carbon and phos minus

I want some of perry's trimmed corals. I picked up an arc fireworks Acro, tck pikachu, and a few others, they should be delivered on Tuesday.

Yeah bro, a BBQ will be great. I have a JKR Rainbow colony that hasn't really been doing anything in my tank (right now just getting the green with purple tips) with all the swings over the past year and a half. I sent a frag over to Pete to see what he can do with it and I think i am going to bring a frag to you and see what your rock star tank can do with it. Just promise me you will blast it with light. :) I had it under MH and I was able to get the very light base, blue/purple tips with bright red polyps but after all my problems I have basically been trying to keep the colony alive.

Perry, are the 2LF sponges too small or will the ones for the Phosban reactor work?

It is not totally necessary to separate with the sponge, but I had one that fit perfectly, so I use it :)

Ok, thanks. I just got the reactor and I wasn't sure if there was a problem of the Phos minus intermixing with the carbon.

No sir, I only use the stack method with AF Zeo Mix, Carbon, and Phosphate Minus, I also use siporax and matrix to help create a bacteria field to process nutrients. This is possible, but not completely recommended, sort of a grey area, as there is really no way to know how the pellets will interact with the Probiotic Method. Cheers :)

@Perry - may I ask why matrix and siporax together ? Do you believe these 2 different substances actually house different strains of bacteria ?

ABHISHEK

Hello, since running the system, yes I started with lower values, and so far no real reason to adjust, as colors are nice, and nutrients are low, but not too low. This is how I prefer :) 2.5 NO3 and 0.00-0.04 PO4 Based on my values, somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 cups Zeo Mix, 1 cup AF Carbon, and .75 cup AF Phosphate Minus. These are lower values, so you could increase as you desire based on testing and appearance of corals :)
How long do we need to use pro bio s and np pro ?

Hello,
I actually was given 4 liters of Matrix for free, so I put in the sump. Soon I will be adding 5-6 more liters of siporax, and also begin using Life Bio Fil when it gets to the states.

When and where are you getting the siporax?

Hey Ed,
Another hobbyist in Orlando, he bought a bunch and then only used half. If not, I will be using Bio Fil anyway :)

Oh ok, I have 3.5 liters of Matrix that I rinsed and have sitting in RODI water right now. Debating on just sticking it in the sump in my skimmer section on the floor. Not sure how well that will work or not. I don't really want to add another reactor with another pump to the system but am limited in space right now other than floor space in the sump. :)
