Hey everyone, I been seeing a lot of info on algae reactors, I want to add one to my 150gal reef tank. My questions are how big of a reactor do I need for a tank my size ? And how effective are they really ? Any feed back would be great, also of you have one, what is you're experience with them?

You can reference pax and their arid reactor. They have a guide for what size reactor they recommend for value of water. Use their guide lines to find the right reactor.

I am looking at a Pax for my new tank upgrade. The tank is gonna be a reefer 525xl, which is 139 gallon total volume, and I originally was gonna go with an arid n18. Pax recommends a tank size between 40-120 gallons. My reasoning was I figured it would be better to undersize the tank just a few gallons, so I didn’t have a problem with growing the cheto.

I have since changed my mind, and decided to go with the n24. I would like to use the triton method, and because of this I think the larger model would be a better choice. Who knows though maybe I’m over thinking it.

I have the arid 18 as one of the major pieces of filtration. Its safe to say that you should undersized when recommended by the manufacturer . My reactor stripped my water in a week. Had to begin dosing iron, and nitrate.
