Question On Alk & Cal.

I have total water volume of 165 gallons
Im dosing 120ml per day calcium
100ml of Alk

I do have alot sps and was wondering if that is about the right amount that most people use
Ive been keeping steady @ 8.5 for alk and 420 cal

to me it just seems like its alot everyday and i will go thru this stuff like crazy.

Your volumes sound reasonable....and your test results don't lie. Consider doing a DIY two part and your costs will go to pennies. HERE is the recipe. I use Recipe 1, and get my baking soda from Sam's Club for around $6 for a 13.5 pound bag. This makes about 12 gallons of Alk solution. I use Prestone Driveway Heat for my Calc...and it was less than $20 for a 40 or 50 pound bag....a lifetime supply. I use two cups of this made up to one gallon with RO/DI water.

Im in Alabama and not sure where to get the Driveway heat stuff,

Would kalkwasser help though,I really didnt wanna go back to using it thru my top off Its just something else i got to mess with .
but this gallon jug sure wont last a month where i will have to mix every month ,and that will get old

I'm more or less in the same boat, about 160 ml a day each to keep the numbers stable. and using 1 gallon jugs. Going back and adding kalkwasser, again, is too much of a pain. I looked into calcium reactors, but that, too, seems to just add more work. Now I'm looking for 5 gallon jugs, but haven't found one I like, yet.

I sure dont need that sitting around the tank wonder how far a dosing pump would pull dose from
i could stick it in the garage and have to travel 30 feet though

Your levels are right on.Your tank must be consuming a lot. And yes dyi additives are the way to go. Are you using a doser or manually dosing?

i run the Alk @ night and the Cal during the day..
Well im sure my Montis use up alot plus all my sps are growing like crazy..
