Hi folks. I have a question on my alk. My alk has been hovering at 7.7 to 7.4 for about 2 to 3 months. Now it's starting to drop maybe .q dkh a week. Do I need to start looking at dosing? I keep no Fish just clean up crew and about 2 small acros 2 small candy canes a four head duncan 3 zoas coralline just starting to take off. Tank is 4 months old.
Any help is appreciated, I'm guessing I'm just a newbie panicking at number as all the corals look great. Lol!

7.4 dKH is fine. So is 7.0 dKH. What level you keep it at is up to you, and when it begins to drop below your target level it is time to begin dosing.

I usually recommend 7-11 dKH, unless it is an ultra low nutrient system, where 7-8 dKH may be better. :)

Thank you for the reply. Is it odd my ca is at 500 without dosing? I use red sea coral pro and it say at 1.026 it mixes to 455-475. Is this an issue? Should I change anything with my water change schedule amount (currently doing 18 gallons a week)?

Do u do the water change all at one time or throughout the week?

At once. With two small kids it's a struggle to just get a day to do all the maintainence, have two other cichlid tanks. Does spreading it out help?

Well Alk improved sea salt is 12 dkh and u said urs is at 7 that's a big difference but if u are not having any problems then don't worry about it
Randy would know better then me about that kinda stuff

Many salt mixes start that high, and if calcium hasn't declined, that is not overly surprising.

Also, some folks have problems with some kits.
