I have a 55 gallon that i have had for over 5 years and have a good amount of corals. I have about
50 lbs of live rock. I am thinking of taking some of the rocks out to open up the middle and have some of the rock on each side. But my real problem is will having most of the rock to the sides and on the bottom will it effect my coral growth since i wont have them real high. The reason i want to rescape my tank is i am sick of looking at a wall of rocks.

any advise will help

i have LED's lights

When I broke down my 90 gal. tank and moved everything into my new 85 Rimless, I took quite a bit of rock out like you are talking about. Just increased the intensity of my lights and really like the looks of the tank now compared to before. I didn't like a solid wall of rock either. By the way I have LED's also.
