Question on Chaeto

I added some Chaeto to my sump. Is it suppose to float? It just sank when I put it in. I put a 6500k CFL on it but not sure if it's suppose to be attached to something or just sit on the bottom. how far should the light bulb be from the chaeto itself? I have it on the glass above the sump(the cover).

Some like it stuck to a rock until it grows, others prefer it to tumble. Your call

Tumbling or having enough flow to pass through it is advisable. Mine didn't tumble, but it was rather pinned up against some egg crate I had in there for it.

my fuge doesn't have a ton of flow through it. Should I add a power head. Right now the cheato isn't moving around much.
