I have a big rock covered in some ugly polyps....how can I get rid of it?? I don't want to inject kalk, so I was thinking is there a fish I can get that eats Zoas and palys only?? Like a large angel or something....or can I just take the rock out of the tank and let it sit in the sun for a week and hose it down??

I would just cut the polyps as close to the base as I could with some scissors and then smother any remaining tissue with some epoxy. If you can take the rock out of the tank with ease though I don't see why you couldn't just chisel the polyps off. GL.

I pry them off with good tweezers; try to get under the tissue. You might get some residue but that can be scraped off.

Some palys and zoas can be extremely toxic. If you decide to remove them by hand or tweezers, think seriously about wearing gloves and even eye protection. Whatever you do, don't use boiling or hot water on the rocks to get rid of them - the toxin gets airborne and into your lungs. Google "palytoxin poisoning" for info.

Thank you for the heads up!!!!!! That is insane!!!! I'm going to try and put an anemone there or something...I have so many it will be a nightmare trying to get them all off and in a couple months they will just come right back!
