Ok so two of my clownfish had ich on them two weeks ago, same day I moved them and my watchman goby to a qt tank and started treating with copper. I was going to do a 90 day fallow but well trying to do more research stumbled upon multiple articles stating Clownfish and Watchman goby’s are ich resistant. I know they can still carry and transmit it to other fish but if I’m planning on not adding any other fish to that tank beside the three that were in there (clowns and goby) do I still need to QT? What is everyone’s advice. I’m not impatient with the fallow by any means and I’m not looking to put a fish in a bad environment. I just want to know if it’s even worth it? Appetite has never decreased in any of the fish, and all three have been healthy before And after noticing the ich, no issues with coat, healthy, energy, and appetite.

Many gobies have a pretty good tolerance for disease, and clowns have a thick mucus coat which helps to protect them longer than other fish, but eventually ich always wins.
Best to stick to qt and do a fallow.
Ok definitely will just read some articles and thought “darn am I a fool?”. Some people on other forums make it sound like it’s no big deal for clowns, gobies, and other fish.

“Ich management” is a popular choice. Essentially the thought that keeping fish healthy will keep them from dying of ich, but it’s not worth the risk if you ask me.

1. I agree with the others about continuing the copper for the recommended time
2. The fallow period may be able to shortened - see the sticky at the top of the Fish disease forums - about fallow periods.
3. The problem with not following the fallow period is that when you put your treated fish back into the tank is that there can be residual Ich in the tank and reinfect the fish (though theoretically they should also have some immunity).

Hope this helps

Great info thank you. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t wasting time but yes till going to follow through on my fallow, I have patience rather the fish have a healthy home then rush them into DT. Cheers to both of you.

Treat for 30 days and leave display tank fishless for 45-60 days. At day 30, lightly vacuum surface to remove any possible dead cysts and trophants

Appreciate the response! Definitely continuing with fallow. Cheers.
