Hi everyone,

Quick question.. I have a Coralife aqualight pro 48inch. I have been using the legs as oppose to hanging kit. Light legs keeps the light off the water surface 3inchs. WOuld you suggest getting a hanging kit and rasing it a couple of inches? Will that make a big difference on how much the light spreads? WOuld there be a big advantage to doing that? I have noticed if I try to put any sps on the sides of the tank that they don't seem to like it and i think it may be because the light is not spreading enough to the sides.. Or maybe new lighting

Moving the light up will change par readings in the tank. I would leave it like that keep SPS under the light and low light soft or Lps on the side

Ya, but i would like to have my sps more spread out around the tank.. Im out of room directly under the light.. lol

Raising them would decrease par, but would give better light spread and help with heat. If the light is that focused I wouldn't think it would affect par that much. I would think you could go up to 12" off water and not affect par that much. Raising it shouldn't hurt anything, just make chians long enough to drop it to where you had it if it does.
