So I have this Aqueon sump that I got used for a deal and was wondering if there would be anyway to make it work with the skimmer in the picture and set up a refugium down the road? The skimmer I have will only fit in that middle chamber the way it is sitting. Is there anything I can do to fit a refugium section into this sump? The tank and sump are currently sitting empty. I was planning on plumbing everything and trying to get water into it this weekend. I just wanted to see what I could do beforehand to try to set myself up for later on down the road if I decided to go with a refugium.

The pictures aren't the greatest and I can try to get better ones once I am home from work. But any help in the meantime if you guys can would be much appreciated.

I had the same issue with my first sump.

My answer was to swap skimmers to a Tunze with a small footprint, and it now shares that space with the refugium.

I never thought about sharing a chamber. I was thinking of chaeto down there. Will that cause any issues with the pump on the skimmer?

I like the Tunze because there is some protection for that. I have been running with a shared chamber for a year now, and the Tunze is doing fine.
