Question on Red Sea Coral Pro Salt

When I used Red Sea Coral Pro I noticed I always had alk of 11-12-ish. I switched to the regular Red Sea (blue bucket) to get parameters closer to natural salt water...You could do that and then dose kalk or 2 part to bring your alk up to 9.5-10ish.

Not with Pro. Pro has around 12 dkH. Red Sea Blue bucket has around 7.8-8.5. You could mix 1 bucket of Pro and Blue into one and get your desired dkH range.

I just changed salt last month on my 180 total water volume and was keeping alk at 9.5 to 10
Is it possible to use RED Sea and keep at that level or will it always be what they say there alk is 12.2

Thanks in advance

If the tank has significant hard corals or coralline algae, the starting alkalinity and that for water changes won't impact the daily tank alkalinity very much. You'll have to be adding alkalinity daily anyway, so you add an appropriate amount to maintain it where you want it.

OTOH, if it is a tank with no significant hard corals or coralline, alkalinity may only decline slowly and if you really think you want it lower, you'll may want to use a different mix or possibly lower the alk in the one you are using.

Thanks, its all SPS and my coraline grows like insane.. im just having problems keeping it at 9.5 to 10 and even went down on alk dosing ,when i was using RC i was dosing 145ml a day bulk reef supply soda ash,but over the last couple days its seemed to climb so i down the dose to 120ml a day. the problem im having is the tips of tri color is starting to turn white and flesh is following off,

Parameters are perfect .03 phos,430 cal 10.5 alk, 1300 mag, ph swings 8.0 to 8.3 daily nitrates .5

but i made mistake of changing lights and salt at the same time so now i dont know if it could be the t5 8 bulb lights that made flesh fall off tips and got burnt

Heres a pic when lights are off

Well, just keep reducing the dosing until it stabilizes where you want. :)
