I have a bulk Reef Supply RO/DI unit in the garage. I'm using it for salt and just pure water, my tds meter has been reading 0 in the 32 gallon rubbermaid containers I'm using, but when I fill up my 5 gallon bucket with the pure RO/DI water my tds meter reads 155? Does anyone know what is happening? All I have in the 5 gallon bucket is a maxi jet 1200 pump and a float sensor from my jbj ato.

I just went to lowes and bought a new food safe gallon bucket, and still when I pour the water in it jumps from 0 to 155? It doesn't make any sense to me, could the maxi jet change the quality?

Clean water will draw in anything it can from the bucket. Fill the bucket and let sit a few days and dump out. Repeat a fee times to remove the junk from the bucket.

You need to find a container that contains 0 BPA. It should say "BPA Free".

Pour some of your water into a glass that you have rinsed out of your drinking glasses. Then read what that says.

The bucket bought is bpa free, that's why I bought it. It's not the bucket it reads 0 without my maxi jet and float valve inside.

Very odd, but why don't you narrow the problem and fill the bucket with just your maxi jet then test. Then do the same with just the float valve. And see which one is causing the TDS issue. How old is the maxi jet? could be that something in the maxi jet or the float valve is degrading.

If the maxi jet has been used to mix saltwater, it'll have deposits on it that will dissolve in RODI and show measurable TDS. The TDS of saltwater is 20,000 to 36,000.
