I picked up a Royal Gramma at Petco. We do not have great options here on places to buy fish. He was seriously stressed by the time I acclimated him, he did not look good. I noticed in the bottom of the bag were dead bristle worms and now his belly was sunken. I did not notice any issues with his body shape when I observed him in the store, nor did the person netting him dig into substrate that would had caught bristle worms. So they eat bristle worms? My only thought was he regurgitated them.

He was probably hungry and stressed and ate those. If it was me, I would isolate (quarantine him). Offer him a varied diet mysis, frozen copepods, fish frenzy, etc. You may have to do the usual medications that other reefers would recommend. See quarantine methods. Knock on wood, i have not had to medicate my fish. My Royal Gamma has been a good fish. Lately, he has been getting into scuffles with the Midas Blenny.

Mine eats anything that will fit in its mouth.
Brine shrimp is a great feeding enticer to start with. Assure it is not irritated with parasites and not producing white poop

No, he is fat and happy now. I thought he was going to be a floater by the end of the night but once he got a place to hide and chill out he is everywhere.
