Question on Salifert test kit readings

I have a question on whether I should be reading the Salifert test kits from the side or above. Bought the Ca, Mg, and ALK kits in Oct22. The instructions make no mention of side vs top reading. For sure there is a difference when going from pink to blue when looking from top vs bottom. Thanks.

The new kits specify going from pink to blue/gray. I have always done mine from the side until I noticed the defined color shift without question. It’s usually a drop beyond where I notice the pink go to a purple-ish color. The next drop usually gets to blue/gray color and that’s where I take my reading. At the end of the day, just be consistent and your tank will be good!
