I will be adding a goby (most likely yellow watchman) and a lawnmower blenny to my 37G QT. For the goby, I want to put in a small bowl of sand and for the blenny, I want to put in small pieces of LR.

I prefer not to use sand from my DT but I do have a small amount of sand left in the bag. This sand was once Live, but it is now dried and has been sitting in the bag for months. Is it ok to use this sand in the QT?

For the LR, I do have extra pieces that I can use from my coral QT where it has been fallow for more than 76 days. Are there any risks with using this in my QT for the blenny?

To complicate things, I will be adding a flame angel and a damsel to the 37G QT where the goby and blenny are going to be held. The flame and damsel are in TTM QTs now and won't be added to the 37G QT until a few days after the goby and blenny are added. See any issues?

The only meds I will use are praz and metro/focus toward the end of the QT.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Yes, live rock will absorb the meds and will pretty much make it useless. If your qt’ing fish, you should do it all at the same time. If you do some one day and again a few days later, the first batch starts their qt time over. I personally would not put live rock in, use some 1 inch PVC elbows instead.

Thanks Wildbill, I never thought about the fact that even though the blenny and goby may not show symptoms of ich, they may be carriers and thus infect the angel and damsel when I put them together. I will certainly QT them separately. Thanks for the pointers.
