Hey everyone,

I was just using my flipper magnet to clean the glass and just noticed a scratch internally about 5in long on my side glass of my Reefer 425xl. Not a huge deal for me but just wanted to make sure this isn’t something I should worry about structurally. What does everyone think? Also when I run my hand over it, my fingernail does catch.

Thanks!

is it on the inside or outside?
Does it touch the silicone?
roughly how deep?
It should be okay but some scratches could compromise structural integrity in extreme cases

It is inside the tank in the center of the pane. As for depth, I’m not entirely sure. I can feel it with my nail but doesn’t seem too deep. I’m pretty sure it was caused by a brittle Star in between the magnet....

should be okay then, I doubt a bristle star dragging along the glass could scratch the glass its more likely to be a grain of sand or something

Hmmm not quite sure what it was then since I have no sand.

That’s why I thought maybe a bristle star but could’ve been something else. Definitely bummed and never keeping a magnetic glass cleaner in the tank again

Where you perhaps leaving it on the scraper side?

Unfortunately, yes.....
