Has anyone ever used this stuff to seal up around coral containers when placed in a box instead of styrofoam lined boxes,
If i was to ship in specimen cups and a box that was 6x6x6 and placed 4 of these cups in center couldn't i spray this around the sides and then place peanuts on top? Just wondering about this as this stuff would expand and secure the cups also

Some types of spray foam will heat up when the chemicals mix to create the foam.
Plus when it hardens, you may not be able to get the cups out of the box.
The way that stuff expands, it may grow bigger than the box. Cardboard will not contain it, if too much is used.

If you could create a form with holes for the cups and have a foam lid.
Plus you would have to figure a way to get the hardened foam out of your form.

well i appreciate that respones..Makes very good sense..
I can see it growing outta the box too duh. idk where my brain is

Some of the expanding spray foams will expand at about a 4 to 1 rate. But some will go much higher.
And the ones I've used ( at work) stick to everything really well.

I wouldn't use it, it has bad idea written alllllll over it. What I would use is packing peanuts or paper

Agreed. Most if not all of them do create.heat while the foam is actually foaming up. Might not be good on the coral specimen crumpled news paper !!

I use a similar product but it's a orange color dry wall filler I belive
It doesn't have much heat to it when it expands and doesn't expand as much as the regular stuff.

I have used expanding sealant in the past but I would use a 3" diameter pvc pipe in a plastic bag to create a slot.then the next day just rip/open the bag take out your pvc and put the specimen cup into the pre formed slot and you're ready.
