i need some ideas on stacking rock, i was thinking of using pvc but not sure it would work, thought about water weld but never had good luck with that holding.

Looking for some ideas

Fiberglass electric fence rods are cheap and easy to cut(hack saw)... Just look for a long masonry bit to drill holes... Farm supply stores usually have both, about $1 for a 3' rod... Use some stick epoxy to prevent wobble by packing in holes around rod. Can also look into using some spray foam to fill in the gaps and tie together [emoji1]

will the foam hold the rocks together and what kind of foam are u talking about, the and does the foam hold the rocks. epoxy says not to be used in fish tanks....

I guess it depends on how extreme you plan to be with your columns. I have a column currently in my tank purpose built to keep a magnifica anemone from making trouble and I basically stacked rocks in such a way that they locked together andcthecobserve used the D&D epoxy putty to keep things I place. D&D takes a bit longer to set than other putties, but it also sticks much better.

beautiful tank........do you know where i can buy the foam....does home depot sell it. i know they have jb water weld...but it doesnt stay stuck for me... i have an idea but i think i need to get some of the rock to stay... i think i have too much live rock...and i just won a bx of rock

They do have the "great stuff", most will argue that you need the black pond foam since it has uv protection.., I find it kind of silly since hopefully you'll have coralline algae beginning to cover within a few months and by the end of a year fully covered... I use the regular poly gorilla glue and apply with a cheap paint brush to pat down bubbles that form... Maybe over 20 minutes or so and I dust it while it's still tacky with some white sand... This is all cosmetic for short term looks... It helps blend the rock and foam together... And the coralline algae will provide all the uv protection the foam needs [emoji1]
