Question on torch coral

Hey guys so I recently picked up some new corals and one of them being a torch. When I get new corals I always dip them and I use a particular formula of 2/3 iodine dip and 1/3 two little fishes revive. I also bag float and drip acclimate. I noticed on my torch coral plug there is another coral growing on the plug and I’m just wondering if anyone knows what it is. Any help is greatly appreciated. I kind of want to figure it out quick because I know that torch corals sting and if need be I would like to pull this other coral off and put it on its own plug. Thanks

Bump. This one has me stumped a bit. At first I thought a small macroalgae but then it does seem to look like a small coral. Possibly a baby torch. Best of luck

Well at least it's not aiptaisa! Found one recently on my torch...thankfully only one in tank and was successfully removed!

Yeah I really don’t think it’s aptasia. It almost looks to me like a yellow polyp but it also has me stumped. Every time I have encountered aptasia it has never looked like this when it was starting out.

Even if you dip them? I thought it it was something you did not want in your tank(aside from aptasia) the dip would pull them right out?

Dips do nothing to a lot of undesirables.

I've received blue clove polyp hitchhikers on a frag plug before from a big site vendor. That stuff will ruin a tank completely.

Looks like some form of daisy/clove/Clavularia polyp to me. I also see what appear to be hydroids. I'd take the torch off that plug and trash it (the plug, not the torch) (or bleach it if you want to reuse the plug later).

Nope. Dips may stun some creatures like flatworms, nudibranchs, and small crustaceans. It will not remove them all and it will not affect any eggs. It will also not kill any corals, anemones, or plants (not all corals or plants are desirable!!!) The only value of a dip is a preview of what's on there. It's not a guarantee and it's not a treatment. It's like going to the doctor and getting your blood work done. It might show you that something's wrong, but it won't show everything that could be wrong and it does nothing to treat it.
