will putting your hands in the take throw off the water chem. I just was wondering i it was ok too put my hands in the tank to move things or rub off some algae or if it is better to keep your hands out of the tank if at all possible

I try and keep my hands in the tanks as little as possible. But unless your hands are pretty gross it shouldn't mess with anything, other than it might kill your skimmer head for a bit but that's normal. If it really concerns you just rinse your arm off beforehand.

I agree. Hands sometimes have oils on the. That can cause bubble popping for a while in skimmers.

It is best to use gloves for your own protection from infections and such, but I admit that I often do not bother for quick things or if really fine control is needed.

I use veterinarian exam gloves. They come up past your elbow for those deep tanks. I get them from Amazon. Also keeps me from getting stung by fire worms:confused:
