I have a 4 inch yellow tang and a 3.5 blue hippo tang. Any chance I can add a mason tang to the tank? I have a 90 gallon. I know they will outgrow the tank, but I can enjoy them for a couple of years. Planning to go bigger by then anyway. Thanks

Correction to previous post. It should read a Naso tang. Victim of auto correct.

I don't know what kind of tang that is but its really up to the tangs individual personality.

Those tangs are all pretty peaceful with each other. However 90 is entirely too small for a sub-adult to adult.

You can mix a Naso with the Yellow and Hippo. You'll probably want to consider an upgrade in 1-2 years though. If that isn't possible just try and re-home the tangs when they start to get too large. If you're worried about aggression issues during the introduction I would recommend purchasing an acclimation box or search the forums for a DIY solution. Can make your life a lot easier and worst case scenario you have it ready in case someone is getting bullied (or being a bully).

Assuming you truly will upgrade in the next 2-3, maybe 4 years, I would think you will be fine. Especially if you have a lot of open swimming room and not just tons of rock.

I wouldn’t put a hippo nor naso in a 90 at all — the hippo in particular can grow quickly. But, as far as aggression goes, assuming the tank size was sufficient short or long-term — the three should peacefully coexist as they’re from different genus.
