Question: Why do reef aquarists dislike micro~bubbles ...

And over time they will contribute to bigger bubbles on the rocks and corals. It just looks bad.

It increases salt creep as well as they burst on the surface.. So, micro bubbles cause 1) decreased PAR, 2) is unsightly, can look like dirt floating around 3) cover things with more bubbles making it more unsightly, 4) increases salt creep. I do have some microbubbles in my reef tank, but so long as it' minimum, not a big deal. My FOWLR with minimal plumbing (sump but no refugium, no skimmer, no reactors) has no microbubbles at all, and you can see the difference on how crystal clear the water is compared to my reef with minimum microbubbles.
