When adding new SPS frags, will the PE usually go down for a few days weeks then come back?

I've got new frags in a QT frag tank. When I first got them they all exhibited really good PE right out of the box. The next days that didn't come back. Some are kinda extending but more aren't. It's this normal?

I got a freebie Brown frag, the first week had really long polyps extended even in the bag it came in polyps were extended, week later no polyps but it’s picking up a green hue so I’m guessing it’s good where is at, Check once the lights are off, I see more polyps at night than day

Thanks everyone.

I started the frag tank with DT water and added BioSpira just to be safe. I've been daily watching Ammonia and Nitrites daily so far. Both zero. Nitrates are a bit higher around 8 which had me a bit concerned. Seller said his stayed around 1.

My pH keeps reading low on a RS kit at 7.6 on the card, the lowest it reads. But the same test reads lower on my DT than my Apex does so I'm not sure if I just can't read it well or if it's kinda a iffy test.

Alkalinity keeps reading 7.5 - 8.0 (kit only reads every 0.5/drop titration).

RS pro kit comes tomorrow but I expect everything will match the RS blue bucket salt I use.

I did do a 30% WC yesterday just to try to bring Nitrates down.

I only got concerned this morning when one frag suddenly went RTN and lost most of its tissue. It's a stag and wasn't encrusted. I've got 13 totally that came in Wednesday. I'm hoping that one maybe a fresh cut that didn't ship well.

Another question. Seller said many like PAR around 400. I've set out up at around 300-350 for most. The frag rack let's me switch between 3 depths to adjust individual frags. But for new frags, do you just set them at the ideal PAR or start low and ramp up over time?

If I know the PAR they came from, I try to match it. If not you're better off starting a little lower in the tank and moving up over the next week or so.

My sps do a bit poor when my nitrates are low, if it’s getting ~350 you should be good don’t touch it unless you really see a problem or it’s doing poor, more harm can be done by putting your hand in the tank and constantly tinkering let it settle give it a few weeks, Check for polyps s few hours after is in complete darkness the ones that don’t extend in the day at night are fully out

Polyps at night would explain why I saw big polyps right after the darkness of shipping I assume.

Thanks everyone. I keep telling myself to leave it alone but I'm concerned something might be off which should be fixed first... I think I've got things at least to a decent place now to leave it be.
