ok so this isn't my firsttime doing a frag tank so I know how it works but since the last time I had one lighting technology has changed a lot. since my money is tight I will be using as much equip that I have laying around as I can. My plan is to use an old 50 gal tank. the last time I did a frag tank I had it bare bottomed but with LR and a few small fish and a few cleaner shrimp. now I always use refugiums which I build myself I think they are just hands down better but I only have a 20 gal glass converted refugium which wont fit underneath my tank so I may have to use a wet/dry. When I had my last frag tank I was using a coralife 48" dual metal halide fixture with 2 150watt bulbs with a built in fan to keep my tank from over heating I had 14K bulbs and I added a couple trulumen high output led strips with 450nm blue lights. I was growing both sps lps and soft corals and they were growing fine. that is until one day I had removed the uv shield from my light fixture and my father unknowingly turned it on nuking my entire tank.

but here is my question, I have a 125 gal mixed reef tank with 3 20watt 14K multi chip spot lights I got off ebay, I also have 2 10watt multi chip 450nm blue spot lights. no theywor gratfr all y corals including my sps. so my queston being im very low on funds would getting more of these spotlight style led lightsbe my best bet given they are cheap & I know from experience they work great? If notwhat my next best option that wont hurt my wallet to badly?
