Hey everyone! So I ordered 2 lbs of Marcos Reefsaver rock. Very happy with how it came, looks beautiful! However, it is a little on the big side for the pico tank I am going to run. To fix this, I would like to saw a flat side on the back of the rock and then have it flush with the back wall of aquarium. I was wondering if anyone has experience sawing these types of rocks, and what the best way to go about it is?

I appreciate anyone's feedback in advance, thanks!

If you have access to a diamond bandsaw that would make short work of it. If you know someone in the tile biz then a big tile wetsaw would be good also. You could also get a cheap angle grinder at harbor freight with a diamond blade and cut it as well if you don’t have access to this other things.

Thanks for the reply! I have seen many people mention diamond blades and bandsaws, so I will see what I can muster up by asking some friends. Thanks for the advice!

I used a welding chipping hammer and gently scored it then a couple of hits and it broke right on the line. Second option if you can’t find a saw.

Depends on how big a piece, could try a hack saw but would be slow going. Could order a base rock which is already cut BRS has them in a couple of different sizes

Many pet stores that sell frags may have a griffin (hobby saw) saw and can cut it for you

thanks for the advice! I could definitely go that route if necessary

Hacksaw. Fine tooth works best

I just take them outside and throw them at the ground until I get more manageable pieces. Alternatively.... find a buddy with a reef shop and a band saw
