Questions about damselfish

My dad bought this damselfish for my mom’s tank. I have a few questions:
What type of damsel is it? The person at the LFS said it was some sort of damselfish, but when he said what type, I couldn’t understand him.
Is it aggressive? It might have been chasing the clownfish in the tank.
Is this type of damselfish reef safe? I saw it picking at a montipora.

yep large, aggressive, and pretty ugly imo as they age. Liveaquaria is a good source for information on fish requirements, not a great place to purchase from though

It’s a juvenile jewelled damsel and is a more aggressive species.
Not as aggressive as some can be (I have First hand experience with the Neon Velvet Damsel and this guy, the Jewel was nothing compared to the Neon Velvet).
Microspathodon chrysurus as they age IMHO aren’t too ugly and they do look pretty nice as adults. This is another damsel id love if I had a spare tank just for aggressive species of damselfish.
