I'm preparing to dose phosphate (KH2PO4) and nitrate (KNO3) for the first time, and I have a few questions about it.

1. Will other parameters swing after dosing these?
2. Is it okay to dose directly into the sump? I don't yet have a skimmer installed.
3. Is there any difference between monopotassium phosphate and potassium phosphate? (The dosing calculator does not have an option for monopotassium phosphate, only potassium phosphate, so that is what I used)

The Setup:
50g BB frag tank (LPS and softies)
30g trigger sump
3 months old, zero phosphate & nitrate
3 fish, no corals yet

The Plan:
Using this calculator, I will make a solution that is .01 phosphate per milliliter.
With that solution, I will administer 1 ml per hour to reach my target of .05 phophate.
Hopefully, nothing crazy happens. /plan

Please let me know what I need to adjust in my plan oh, I'm sure there are several things that aren't correct haha

we didn't experience any swings other than more coral growth related uptake

2. Is it okay to dose directly into the sump? I don't yet have a skimmer installed.

we dose into the return pump section of our sump

3. Is there any difference between monopotassium phosphate and potassium phosphate?

dunno, prolly molecular % weight of po4 is different for each

overall, the plan sounds fine, we held our breaths when we started too haha

Thanks for the reply.
After not getting an answer initially, I went ahead and dosed as I planned.
Everything turned out just fine. The dose turned out to be .02 parts per million instead of .01 (likely due to me miscalculating the total water volume)
The "holding your breath" comment couldn't be more true :D

No negative effects from dosing. I prefer to add it in with my carbonate doser though so I could do a weeks worth.
