So im a little lost right now, I have a reboot tank and im doing things alot differently so far everything is doing great except ALK.
The current setup,
70 Gallon,
Filtration - Skimmer, Bio Pellets, and Fuge Reactor
Fish only with new cycled rock. Corals are still in quarantine and are all softies.
PH 7.9 - 8.2
Red Sea Pro
Nitrate - 8ppm
Phosphate 0.04
Alk Today June 24 - 7.9 June 26 7.2 Today 6.8
As you can see im dropping alk like crazy, and even with a 30 gallon change about a week ago when the alk was 7 it only brought it up to a 9. All my tests were done with a hanna checker, and my new test kit comes in today, I want to verify im not off with the checker.
I am trying to avoid as much as I can and try to go with the minimum amount of gear and additives as I can. My old tank crashed due to constant changes from me adding filters and removing gear.
So I think I should at least go back to KALK in the ATO, or should I just skip that and dose ALK on my test days. I know in my old tank dosing ALK cause my PH to shoot up and im happy with where my ph is these days, Its fairly consistent since running the air line outside.
Any thoughts or ideas on whats going on and the safest route to fix it.
