I have recently been working on getting my Biocube set back up. I had the MP10 I used to run on the tank set up and running on it again, it had been running just fine. It stopped working and the light on the driver was blinking back and forth between red and green. I tried to cycle the power, still same thing. I took the wet side out, disassembled it, cleaned it, and put it back together. It spins freely by hand with no visual issues but once reinstalled I am still getting the flashing red and green. I tried to reset the driver per the instructions on their website but when I press and hold the buttons nothing happens, it just continues flashing. I tried running the dry side by itself, with the wet side disconnected, and you can feel the dry side kick on then immediately shut off. It basically just feels like a 'click' or something similar. My first reaction is something wrong with the dry side, but wanted to check with the community to get some feedback. Hopefully somebody with more experience can help give me some guidance and what to check or what to replace. Also, I was curious if I would be better to get the parts to fix it at home or send it off to EcoTech to have them take a look at it. I have seen mixed reviews on their customer support. There are some stories where they have gone above and beyond and have fixed or helped out customers on out of warranty pumps, but then I hear stories where they weren't much (if any) help. As somebody who has not dealt with them personally, I was wondering what everyone else's opinions were.

Thank you in advance.

I had a similar issue when I purchased a used MP10, you tried the hard reset on the MP10 controller already?

Ecotech customer service is hit or miss all depends on who you get. I've had to DIY a few fixes on my MP similar to you I've probably pieced apart two units to get them back to working order. I'll do a little more hunting on my end to see if we can find some other root causes to your issue.

Could also be a problem with the driver. How old is the pump?

I had this exact same issue with my ~8yr old (give or take a year or two) MP10. Short version - I purchased a new MP10.

Have you tried setting the flow setting to max and then trying to power it on? Mine started to not start up occasionally with that same sequence of lights. For a while I was able to get it going by turning the controller on and then 'flicking' the impellers at the right time (about 3-4s after powering it on, right at the time of the 'click', took the guard off to do this, did it outside of the tank). Then that eventually stopped working. Even when that process worked, it took multiple tries and frustrated me somewhat.

I thought maybe something was wrong on the dry side and found some videos regarding replacing bearings. Mine did not come apart easily, and when I did get it somewhat apart, I found the internals rotated just fine. I had screwed up the dry side flat side (presses against the tank) in the process and I just threw in the towel and bought a new MP10.

The new MP10 works pretty well, but the wet side was/is loose/rattly, I need to post a thread asking about that.

Thanks,
Joe
