Hey reef!

So my 35g has been running for almost two months now. I got a small Yasha goby with a Alpheus Randalli in there, and everything seems to be going great so far!

The footprint of the tank is 20x20x20, and I have a HOB Aquaclear 110 running until I set up the sump, so all the space in the tank is available for fish since this is not a AIO.

I am planning on adding a Royal Gramma, and a pair of adolescent clowns. Maybe another fish like a Pink Streaked Wrasse (if the tank size is adequate?) somewhere down the line, depending on how everything goes with the sump etc.

My aquascape has little caves and hiding places. Also a few overhangs, which I know the Royal Gramma likes, so I am confident that everything should work out.

The question is, what would be the best order of adding these fish considering there's a small goby/shrimp pair inside already?
I've read articles that say add clowns last, and I also read the same for the Gramma, so I am not sure what would the correct way be.

Any advice is welcome.

Thank you!

Stock your tank in the order of least agressive 1st and most agressive last. What kind of clowns? they are generally mean to other clowns but peaceful to other species . I would stay away from a six line if you want peace in your tank. The Royal Gramma could be semi agressive if given the right conditions.

You want to have the shy and small fish to stake their claim of terrority 1st before the bigger and badder dudes are introduced.

Yeah that is the plan, but I am not experienced enough to know who is the most aggresive.

I made a mistake in my initial post, I was thinking Pink Streaked Wrasse, not the Six-line, my tank is a bit too small for the Six Line.

Clowns will be Ocellaris, as far as I understand they seem to be the least aggressive.

I also want to take it slow and allow for some time in between adding fish so that the fish that's added to the tank has a chance to get comfortable. I was thinking 3 weeks to a month, if that is enough time.

EDIT: I've also read that a Royal Gramma sometimes attacks/kills smaller shrimp. My Alpheus Randalli / Yasha pair is still adolescent, both are pretty small. Is that a reason to worry?

I wouldn’t do any clowns in a 32g tank after having them in 3’ and 4’ tanks. They are aggressive enough in those tank sizes, a nano would be stolen from your possession and be the fish’s tank now.

Pink Streaks (Pseudocheilinops ataenia) NEED peaceful introductions although once established they don’t need as peaceful tanks (I personally stick to slightly aggressive but mostly peaceful still though, just in case). They’re stunning fish but are a pain to keep, many not making it a year (My oldest made it a year and a month, my second attempt made it a couple days).

Alpheus shouldn’t be affected as long as they’re paired with a Shrimp Goby. The goby will remain on look out and dart in, alerting the shrimp of any threats. Once the threat is gone both will go back to their regular things.
