I tried emailing Triton with a few questions but they never responded so I was hoping someone could answer them for me. I just started recently and removed mechanical filtration, Bio Pellets, and GFO. I'm only running carbon and chaeto of course with a decent skimmer and 10X return pump.

What target DKh should I look for? I’ve read both 7dkh and 8dkh? Which is it? I'm dosing the 4 part Base Elements Core 7 if that makes a difference. I remember seeing a note somewhere that says if you're using Base Elements Core 7 to target 7dkh.

Is there anything else I should be dosing to help the chaeto grow or is all that in the 4 parts of the core 7? Also, should the chaeto be tumbling? Right now I have it tumbling continuously.

Right now my Alkalinity is at 7.6dkh, I’ve been waiting for it to go below 7 before I start increasing my dosing to keep a steady 7dkh but for now I dose 3ml a night. Should I be dosing anything at all or should I stop until it gets below 7 (or 8, depending on the answer to the question above)?

I have an ICP-OES test and an N-Doc test waiting for after I get dkh and dosing stabilized. Should I wait until things stabilize or should I just go ahead and send them in now?

Sorry for all the questions, just don't want to screw this up and 7dkh seems scary low to me and trusting only a small ball of chateo to handle nitrates and phosphates seems crazy, but I'll trust the method if it works.

Hi, I have been running full Triton for the part couple of years. I gave mixed tank and run dkh of around 8. As Triton states it is not about 7 or but pick one and stay consistent. I test my mag and calc and base my dkh off of that. So if 7.5 equals 450 calcium the. Stay at around 7.5. I have a sand bed so every 6 weeks I do a 25% water change out. On sending out your test, I recommend to get an overall evaluation. If you have test such as Salifert or others, I would advise to take a sample of water test with your home kit and send into Trition. This way you can see the difference and always have a double check.

I also say 8 dkh. Your Alk will test its lowest about an hour after lights out and its highest when lights turn on. I also found that my Triton solutions do not require equal doses. My tank seems to use more of 3 & 4 (Alk) than 1 (Mg) or 2 (Ca) so I have to adjust as necessary. Keep a eye on all three until dialed in.

Thanks for the replies. Triton support did get back to me. They said to target 7dkh and I shouldn’t dose at all until it gets closer to 7.

They didn’t say if I should send in the samples now or wait until I get the alkalinity stabilized.
