So I have a nano 15 gallon tank with a couple of different corals. I have this favia that has recently grown this flesh colored spot on it. I'm not sure if it's new growth of if it's dying..

Here's another pic of it

Tank looks very brand new. At the beginning keeping any corals at all is an up hill battle. What are your current parameters?

Nitrates are high but not too terrible. Need to know alkalinity and phosphate as well. I would recommend getting yourself some salifert test kits. If serious about keeping coral you will need alkalinity, nitrate, calcium, phosphate, magnesium and Ph.

Yeah the ones I listed were just from what I remember them writing down. They had stated the sal was a little high and to do a small water change with ro water to reduce it. I'll post the other values when I get home. Thank you for the reply tho

I'm just unsure if that white spot is decay or new growth

Is it soft or hard? Could be the skeleton showing. Check out this link for something similar I found. I would also ID what’s growing on the plug. Could be related to potential pests irritating it. Did you dip the coral?
