i have had a prob with the Ammonia and i got it under control now....what i need to know how long do i have to wait till i can add soft corals....and does the calcium have to be at a certain level before adding soft corals. I was thinking of changing salt i read that Pro Coral is better if you have corals....

Make sure your ammonia level is under control and you need to have calcium 410 ppm ,alkalinity 7-10 dkh,and magnesium 1350. You will need to test parameters and dose as needed.

Yes, you want Reef levels in the tank before you add corals, becuase where they are coming from, they are kepr at reef levels, and if your not close, then your liable to kill the coral.

okay wht do you use for magnium do thy sell magniusum liquid... i have the powde for the dkh, and i have liquid calcium but i seem to have a prob getting the calcium correct...and the pro salt does that help with the calcium

if doing softies, don't worry about the calcium. my calcium is at 380 and my softies are doing fine. I am going to switch salt brand to raise it to try some lps. softies do fine in low calcium.

loveswfish,

yes they do...I use Kent Tech M on my main tank, but going to use Fauna Marin bailing salt mix for Mg when I start my new 75g reef tank...I am also going to get a Kamoer dosng pump so my levels are constantly dialed in.

If your planning on dosing, then you can use Instant Ocean. Reef Crystals is a good salt that has all the elements high so you don't have to dose for the most part.

thanks for the inforation, also i have another question if someone can answer me....my plan is to get soft corals and i have a question about lighs at the present i have t5 double and i would like to add another strip t make 4 bulb, but i dont see how that can be done i would not be able t open th top to feed the fish.... so is a double light that icurrently have good enough with soft corals... i have a 50/50 and 10k bulbs at the present... i also want another skimmer i have an ehopps and sometimes it leaks and causes problems can u suggest another skimmer.

i have a fish tht can jump out i went and looked at the Flugal LED are they decent lights for corals and they have moon lights also
