Hello,

I would like to go to 10-12dkh, for better growth, but my concern is, if I buy corals, most will come from vendors with kh 7,5-8, it will not be a problem to put them in 10dkh?
How much kh ,mag, cal you run, and what benefit you see? Are the color good also with high kh?

I saw no benefit running at 10dkh, mine seem to appreciate 8 ish. Saying that, I ran a mainly softy tank for years at 10dkh, all was good.

Seems like the higher dkh would only benefit stony corals, so your softy tank wouldn’t notice a difference.

I’m interested in this question as well.

I think it's a fine experiment, but in general I think folks believe they tend to have better color at lower alk and lower nutrients and faster growth at higher alk and higher nutrients.

It is what I believed also, but when I look the brs tv video about their experiment with high kh, cal and mag not only the growth exploded but the color were better and less mortality

So there are many reefers with their own experiences, and BRS with a different one. I haven't changed my expectation based on a BRS video.

I’m sure folks will. in the meantime there are loads of existing threads on optimizing coral color.

I posted this just now to a different thread:

Color is a very complicated issue, IMO, and made far more complicated by the fact that people are rarely talking about just one organism under one type of lighting. Different people also like different looks.

The best I can gather from reading so many experiences is that coloration does frequently relate to N and P levels, and more often than not, reefers seem to think their tanks look best at a middle ground of nutrient levels, neither too high nor too low.
