So I'm installing a calreact 220 in my sump, submerged. I plan to PULL the effluent with a Versa pump, as it's my understanding that is the best method.

For those familiar with the Calreact - What did you do on the inlet hole? Since it'll be submerged, I'd assume that it doesn't need a valve and a line going elsewhere?

I never did understand the need for a valve on the inlet, as far as when to open, when to close, how to fine tune that, etc.

Or am I better off just PUSHING from the versa into the reactor and leaving the top effluent outflow line open?

Thanks!!!

Maybe the valve is there just to keep the reactor from draining while I'm refilling it, and it's always fully open otherwise?

What's to keep the circulating pump from pushing water out of this hole? Just the slight vacuum provided by the effluent being pulled out?
