Anyone tried using quick connect fittings for plumbing? Just curious as it 'should' allow more flow because they fit on the outside instead of reducing the inside diameter like barbed fittings do.

I tried a garden hose quick release for my skimmer export. Needless to say I took it after 2 days. Couldn't handle the salt and would fuse. Probably better options out there

I've never used them. I've always hard piped pvc with a 1/2 size bigger fittings then I don't have to neck it down. Example.... using 1"1/2
fittings and unions etc for having 1" pipes.

I'll use bushings inside the unions so I can run a true 1"drain so on and so forth. Same with the returns etc...

I think I am going to look into hard pipe. The only issue is going to be figuring out how to get it to connect to the lock line through the back wall. It will need to press-fit into the lock line which may or may not be an issue. I'll have to test a piece this weekend and see, but if I hard piped it with 1/2" it would give me a lot less flow restriction. Do you use regular pvc/cpvc glue?

Could you post a picture of the piece of lock line your hooking up to.

Regular PVC glue . [emoji4]

I'll take a pic when I get home this afternoon. I have my fingers crossed that a piece of 1/2" pvc will fit into the back of it. If that is the case, all my flow and fitting problems will be solved.
