I consider myself a novice when it comes to reef tank lighting. I am coming from a Marine Orbit pro with a separate 2 bulb T5 fixture. I have a 90 gallon mixed reef tank. I researched a lot and decided to go with two new A360's
Quick impressions. The shimmer is off the charts. I have to give it time but it's slightly distracting. It also shimmers off the back wall and ceiling. The wife isn't like that part so much and I get it. I had the return pump nozzle pointed towards the surface to agitate it but it was way too much with the shimmering, had to aim it down to smooth the surface out some. I am considering a DIY canopy at this point.
I made a previous thread about this but the light really bleeds over the front and sides of the tank. I used the newer mounting arm where you can tuck the wires down inside mounting arms. It's a fixed position unlike the gooseneck style. If I ordered again I would have done the gooseneck to have the flexibility of adjusting but the newer style is a very clean look. I first set the light at 6 1/2" off the surface. I moved it down to 4 3/4" - 5" and that seemed to take care off the light bleeding. Parts of my tank that were dim before, are now lit up pretty good.
Everything else is great. You get 8 time slots instead of 6 with the X controller and the customization is incredible. I am now hoping to really expand and add more corals now that I have a better lighting setup.
I mostly wrote this for others like me with little knowledge lighting just so you know what you're getting into. It's A LOT different than my old lighting set up. I think the change is going to take some getting use to. I like the lights but not in love with them yet.
