Leaving for vacation today. I've been trying to raise Alk and calc slowly over the last 2 weeks.

Alk 8.4
Calc 375

Alk has not dropped more thank .5 over a week and calc seems to drop very slowly as well. I dosed 30 ml part A&B brightwell last night. To get to these levels. I just ran a calculator to get the parameters where I want them.

Target 9.0 ALK
Target 425 CALC

I ran the chemistry calculator and its telling me to put in a ton of calcium. Pics attached.

Knowing that I won't be here for a week and my reef sitter isn't equipped to do anything other than feed and top off would you dose the recommended amounts or just leave things be in fear of throwing off the stability of things?

Advice I've found is to not do anything major before a vacation (I'm prepping for one myself). Dosing in a lot of anything would likely not be the best idea, IMO. As the week goes, things will slowly change, but that's a slow change that critters can adjust to easier than any abrupt change that would happen now.

Perhaps make up a vial/ziplock that the sitter can safely add in at the halfway point?

Is it really a drastic change to change Alk by .5dkh and calc by 50ppm? Do the calculator results seem right to you?

0.5dKH should be safe (I use no more than 1.4dKH/day)
50ppm calcium should also be fine, though it's at the upper-end of what I understand you want to do. Though I've once dosed in nearly an entire gallon of calcium 2-part solution with no problems.

And I'd trust a calculator better than my math, for sure! You can double-check the numbers using the BRS calculator: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-calculator/

The brs calculator is saying almost twice as much. I trust the marine depot calculator more because it is specific to brightwell products

imo. nothing will happen in a week. you have to have a pretty high stony load and amazing growth right now. IMO IME.

In the future, look at adding Kalkwasser to your top off water for situations like this.

I dosed alk up to 9 and calc up to 425

Hope everything does ok as I'm already in my way to go
You'll be fine. You can raise calc 50 ppm/day, mag 100 ppm/day, and I'm not sure about alkalinity. I've heard a swing of 1 dkh/day is too much. Sounds like you are good to go!
